Interior Cleaning

What products do you use for interior cleaning?

OTHS Interior Cleaning Product Approach

OTHS interior cleanings use professional-grade products selected by surface — not a single bottle for everything. The affiliate cleaners we work with — each with 10+ years of cleaning experience — choose products based on what they're cleaning and what's safe for the surface beneath.

The categories below cover what gets used in a typical Salem or Albany area cleaning. Specific brands rotate based on availability and performance, but the categories are consistent.

Products by Surface Category

Kitchen surfaces:

  • pH-balanced all-purpose cleaner for countertops, backsplashes, and exterior cabinet faces
  • Dedicated stainless-steel polish for appliance exteriors (avoids streaking)
  • Heavy-duty oven cleaner only when an oven interior visibly requires it (deep clean / move-out scope)
  • Mild dish-safe cleaner for sinks and dish areas

Bathroom surfaces:

  • Acid-free or mild-acid cleaners for tile, grout, and fixtures (selected by tile type)
  • Dedicated glass cleaner for mirrors and shower doors
  • Specialty grout brightener on deep cleans where standard cleaner won't restore appearance
  • Antibacterial-rated formulation for toilets and high-touch surfaces

Floors:

  • Hardwood-safe pH-neutral cleaner for hardwood and laminate (no water saturation)
  • Tile-specific formulations for ceramic and porcelain
  • Vacuum-only on carpets (extraction is a separate service)

Glass and mirrors:

  • Streak-free glass formulation, paired with microfiber cloths

Microfiber-first approach:

We use microfiber cloths and pads as the primary cleaning surface across categories — they outperform paper towels and most rag types, and reduce the need for chemical concentration.

Eco-Friendlier Options on Request

If you prefer plant-based, fragrance-free, or low-VOC products, let us know during the estimate. Substitutions available for most categories:

  • Plant-based all-purpose alternatives in place of standard formulations
  • Fragrance-free options for kitchen, bathroom, and floor work
  • Vinegar-based glass cleaner alternatives where appropriate

Effectiveness varies by category — eco-friendlier alternatives work well for routine surfaces but may struggle on heavy buildup (e.g., neglected bathroom grout). We're honest about where substitutions trade some cleaning power for product profile, so you can make informed decisions per surface category.

Allergies, Pets, and Sensitivities

Tell us during the estimate if anyone in the household has fragrance sensitivity, chemical allergies, or respiratory considerations. We can adjust the product mix accordingly, and confirm timing for product application around vulnerable family members or pets.

OTHS provides same-day estimates on new interior cleaning inquiries in the Salem and Albany area. The product question — whether you want standard professional, eco-friendlier, or fully sensitivity-adjusted — is part of the estimate conversation, not an add-on.
