How to Prepare for Professional Pressure Washing

Why Preparation Matters

Professional pressure washing delivers dramatic results — but your prep beforehand directly affects the quality of the outcome. A few simple steps before the crew arrives can mean the difference between a good job and an exceptional one.

24–48 Hours Before the Appointment

Clear the Work Area

Move lawn furniture, potted plants, grills, and any movable items off driveways, patios, and walkways. This gives the crew unobstructed access to every surface.

Close All Windows and Doors

Pressure washing generates mist and detergent spray. Closed windows prevent water and cleaning solution from entering your home.

Identify Problem Areas

Note any stains, oil spills, graffiti, or areas of heavy moss or mildew. Pointing these out to the crew when they arrive helps them allocate extra attention where it's needed.

Day of the Appointment

Unlock Side Gates

If the crew needs access to side or back areas, make sure gates are unlocked. Delays cost everyone time.

Keep Pets Inside

Pressure washing equipment is loud and the process involves water and detergent. Keep dogs and cats safely indoors.

Know Your Water Shutoff

In case of an issue with your outdoor water supply, knowing where the shutoff is saves time.

Be Available for the First 10 Minutes

A quick walkthrough with the crew lets you point out priorities and confirm scope. After that, you're free to go about your day.

Things You Don't Need to Do

Don't pre-wash or scrub anything yourself — that's what the professionals are there for. Don't cover landscaping unless the crew specifically requests it (we handle that). Don't worry about water usage — pressure washing is actually more water-efficient than hand washing the same surfaces.

After the Job

Walk the property with the crew for a final inspection. If anything was missed or needs a second pass, it's best to address it immediately while the equipment is still on-site.
